TCS Cleaning Video Instructions

TCS Manufacturing Cleaning System Instructions

  • Unload the firearm and remove ammunition from the cleaning area.
  • Double check to make sure the gun is unloaded
  • If the gun has an easily removable barrel, remove the barrel from the gun.
  • Secure the barrel of the gun in a padded vice or gun rest. If the barrel is not easily removed from the gun, simply secure the entire gun in a padded vice or rest.(Note if barrel is not easily removable, remove bolt from gun and install bore guide.)
  • If heavy fouling exists, a bore brush may be used first to loosen tough deposits. At least one pass is recomended
  • Screw the patch jag to a cleaning rod of the proper length and caliber.
  • Saturate a Round Patch with TCS Mfg. Tactical Cleaning Solvent.
  • Center the patch on the chamber end of the barrel or the end of the bore guide. The patch may be difficult to push through the bore if it is not centered properly.
  • Use the jag attached to the cleaning rod to push the patch from the chamber to the muzzle of the gun. If the gun cannot be cleaned from the chamber end, it may be cleaned from the muzzle.
  • Discard the used patch.
  • Apply a thin layer of bore paste to a new patch using the included wooden spatula.
  • It is safe to use a back and forth scrubbing motion inside the bore. This will make the cleaning faster and easier.
  • After scrubbing the bore, push the patch out of the barrel through the muzzle.
  • Remove the rod and the jag from the bore.
  • Inspect the bore to make sure the fouling has been removed.
  • Repeat the process with a fresh patch if any fouling remains.
  • If heavy fouling remains after this step, a brush may be used to loosen deposits.
  • Once the dirt has been removed, saturate a round cotton patch with TCS Mfg. Tactical Cleaning Solvent.
  • Remove any residual bore paste by pushing the patch through the bore.
  • Inspect the bore.
  • If any bore paste remains in the bore, run another solvent saturated patch through the bore.
  • If the firearm is to be stored, apply TCS Mfg. Ultimate Firearm Lubricant to a patch and press the patch through the barrel. This will leave behind a thin film that will protect your firearm for up to six months.
  • After Removing Your Firearm from storage, push a dry patch through the bore to remove excess lubricant.
  • Before loading any firearm, inspect the bore to ensure that there are no obstructions.
  • If a bore is obstructed in any way, remover the obstruction.

Notes

  • Note our Jags should be used with out round patches and a rotating rod to allow the jag to follow the rifling in bore. This allows the jag to remove fouling in the lands and grooves. We sell rods in Aluminum and Stainless Steel.
  • FYI- Our patches are not proprietary- you can use another patch product that should be round and about .015" thick to work properly- Square patch's can jam in the barrel.
  • Some .22 Cal. rifles & pistols have sub-diameter or small bores & the jag will not fit if using standard patch sizes. Smaller size patches are available on request.
  • We recomend scrubbing back and forth with our Jag. The push the patch out through the muzzle if possible. Our porducts will also work with a direct one way process, exiting through the muzzle of the firearm.
